Slovenia Holds First Club Kata Event

Inspired by the 2024 Children Kata Festival and seminar held in Ljubljana under the European Judo Union, Golovec successfully launched its inaugural kata tournament on 25 October. The event showcased the growing enthusiasm for kata across Slovenia.

Held alongside the traditional "Autumn in Golovec" tournament for children, the competition featured 33 pairs from five clubs. Participants ranged from children to seniors, and despite many being young, their performances displayed remarkable focus and true judo spirit characterized by respect, calmness, and precision.

"The young judoka have shown they understand the essence of kata, precision, respect, and cooperation. The first tournament was truly inspiring," said Dr Nuša Lampe, CEO of Judo Golovec.

Lampe confirmed the continuation of this initiative with further tournaments planned for November at Judo Polyteam and December during their New Year's Kagami Biraki event.

Robert Kojc, president of the Slovenian Institute for Judo and Judo Kata Association, described the tournament as an important milestone for Slovenian judo.
