Slovenian PM Honors Ljubljana’s Healthcare Milestones

Prime Minister Robert Golob participated in a ceremonial event at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana (UMC Ljubljana), marking two significant anniversaries. The ceremony celebrated the 50th anniversary of the opening of the UMC Ljubljana's modern main building and the 240th anniversary of the founding of Ljubljana’s first Civil Hospital.

Significance of the Milestones

The Prime Minister highlighted the crucial role these milestones played in advancing hospital services across Slovenia. He said:

“The history of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana is woven from numerous scientific achievements, countless lives saved, and endless moments of courage and compassion. Through the doors of the university medical centre, many of us enter with pain, difficulties, even fear and sadness. Yet behind your doors, we find a place of hope, trust, faith in life, and the future.”

UMC Ljubljana’s Role in Public Healthcare

Golob described the University Medical Centre Ljubljana as the core of Slovenia's public healthcare, where the latest diagnostic and treatment methods are developed and applied. It serves as a hub where knowledge and experience from hospitals and health centres nationwide converge.

“Here, new approaches are developed, and the most advanced methods of diagnosis and treatment are applied. This is a crossroads of ideas, where experience and knowledge from hospitals and health centres across Slovenia meet.”

Training Ground for Medical Professionals

He also emphasized that numerous doctors working throughout Slovenia today received their training at UMC Ljubljana.
