Academy Players Prepare for Remembrance Sunday

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, Wolves Academy players honored those who served from an Old Gold perspective. The club’s under-12 players planted a tree at Compton Park last Friday in memory of Wolves players who fought in both World Wars.

During the ceremony, vicar Anne Martin was present as the children read the names of the fallen and shared a poem expressing their feelings about Remembrance. This moment of reflection marked the conclusion of a week-long series of events connected to Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Activities

This project is part of the Premier League’s annual Christmas Day truce initiative, helping the club’s young players understand and appreciate history during this meaningful time.

“It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project.” – Natalie Deakin, Wolves Academy Head of Education

Through these activities, the Academy fosters respect for the past while encouraging personal growth and community spirit among its players.

Author’s summary: Wolves Academy's Remembrance Sunday efforts combine education, community engagement, and reflection to honor past heroes while shaping well-rounded young athletes.
