Luka Doncic, Lakers Rally Past Spurs for Fifth Straight Win

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Lakers secured their fifth consecutive victory, edging out the San Antonio Spurs 118–116 in a physical game that featured 66 fouls and 84 free throws. Luka Doncic narrowly missed a triple-double, recording 35 points, 13 assists, and nine rebounds, along with five steals and two blocks.

Coach JJ Redick and center Deandre Ayton spoke before the matchup about containing Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, who has quickly become one of the league’s most intriguing players due to his rare combination of size and skill.

“Our group is so connected right now, we were able to get back together and there was no quitting,” Redick said. “It’s a connected group.”

Despite Doncic’s 9-for-27 shooting night, his leadership in the final minutes guided the Lakers on a decisive 21–10 run to close the game. The win improved their record to 7–2 as they prepare for a five-game road trip.

“For him and for the group, the word of the day is like resiliency,” Redick said.
