Former Miss USA Noelia Voigt publicly backed Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch following an incident where Bosch and other contestants left after being disrespected by Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.
Voigt, 26, shared her reaction on Instagram on November 5, expressing shock and disappointment. She stated,
“When I woke up yesterday morning and saw the video circulating across the internet showing what happened, I was shocked, disgusted, disappointed and genuinely horrified.”
Voigt, who represented Miss USA in 2023 and later voluntarily gave up her title, related personally, saying she knows how it feels when someone dismisses your voice and undermines your dignity.
During the event, Itsaragrisil called Bosch, 25, a “dumb head,” a term meaning “fool” or “empty-headed.” He also told her,
“You must listen to me first, then argue with me.”
Itsaragrisil apologized afterward, explaining,
“I think you must understand the pressure is a lot, I am a human sometimes. By the way, I have not intend[ed] to hurt anyone.”
In May 2024, Voigt stepped down from her Miss USA title to focus on her mental health.
Voigt’s solidarity highlights the importance of respect and dignity for participants in beauty pageants.
