Father Sentenced to 25 Years to Life for Murder of Infant Son
Judge Gary Polk at the Riverside Hall of Justice sentenced Jake Haro to 25 years to life in prison for the death of his 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro.
Haro was charged with one count each of filing a false police report, murder, and assault on a child under 8 years old and causing death.
- He initially pleaded not guilty, but switched his plea to the court on Oct. 16 in a felony settlement conference.
- The convicted father, who had a history of child abuse prior to the death of Emmanuel, must also pay $10,000 in restitution.
He and his wife, Rebecca Haro, were arrested Aug. 22 after Rebecca told the police that kidnappers took Emmanuel after she was knocked unconscious on the night of Aug. 14 while changing her baby’s diaper near a Big 5 Sporting Goods store.
